Johnson County Government 2020 Annual Report
As the coronavirus, entered in Johnson County, our leadership and staff took swift action to help protect our community.
Forging ahead into the unknown, leadership met more frequently, established a task force and a new data dashboard was created.
Following closings and stay-at-home orders, the county began to phase in re-openings and offering free testing to track the coronavirus.
The BOCC returned to meeting in person and invested millions in PPE for front line responders to help prevent the spread.
It was a month of two major milestones – masks were mandated, and a historic number of election ballots were mailed.
The pandemic tightened its grip, so school guidance was written, and resources were added for testing and disease investigation.
Johnson County continued to support the state’s extended mask mandate and held drive through job interviews as a precautionary measure.
The county hosted several virtual events, while CARES Act funding provided a welcome boost to the community.
As cases rose, we honored our county’s veterans virtually and delivered care packages of food to older adults.
The state announced plans to double the amount of testing by the end of the year and launched the Go Get Tested website ...
While managing business during a pandemic, there are many stories from 2020 that offer a glimpse of hope behind the threat. Held 19 special BOCC meetings, live town halls, news conference or public health updates
Operated 158 testing clinics and completed 33,764 tests
Distributed more than 8.8 million pieces of PPE to 310 health and medical organization
Received more than 1.7 million pageviews of the COVID-19 landing page
Reached more than 61 million television viewers
